Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, will on Sunday undergo surgery to remove his prostate, according to a statement from his office.
The 66-year-old Netanyahu was recently diagnosed with a urinary tract infection caused by benign prostate enlargement.
This will mark the latest in a series of medical interventions for the Prime Minister.
Earlier this year, he underwent hernia surgery and had a pacemaker implanted in 2023.
The news comes amid heightened tensions in Gaza, where the Israeli military has conducted a raid on one of the last operational hospitals in northern Gaza, detaining its director.
Israel’s conflict with Hamas has been ongoing since the attacks on October 7, which left approximately 1,200 people dead and 250 abducted.
The Palestinian health ministry, which is operated by Hamas, reports that over 45,400 Palestinians have been killed and more than 108,000 injured since the conflict began.
These figures include a significant number of women and children, though they do not differentiate between civilians and combatants.
