President Bola Tinubu returned to Abuja on Tuesday night, December 3, 2024, after official visits to France and South Africa. The presidential Airbus A330 landed at the Presidential Wing of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at 9:10 PM.
The president was received by key officials, including the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, and APC Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje.
Tinubu’s three-day state visit to France, which began on November 27, 2024, was at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron.
During their meeting at the Palais des Elysée in Paris, both leaders signed two agreements aimed at fostering collaboration in developing critical infrastructure and bolstering agricultural and food security initiatives.
They also witnessed the signing of the agreement by the United Bank for Africa Group Chairman Tony Elumelu and Mr. Antoine Armand, the French Minister of Economy, Finance and Industry for the bank to commence operations in Paris.
Zenith Bank also inaugurated its services in the country during the visit.
On Monday, December 2, Tinubu departed France for South Africa
Tinubu co-chair the 11th session of the Nigeria-South Africa Bi-National Commission alongside President Cyril Ramaphosa.
The 11th session of the BNC featured deliberations across eight working groups, each focusing on a specific area of mutual interest.
These included political consultations, consular and migration, banking and finance, defence and security, manufacturing, social sector, mines and energy, and trade and investments.
At the high-level meeting, officials of both countries signed several Memoranda of Understanding and agreements.
The Nigeria-South Africa Bi-National Commission was established in 1999 to further strengthen the ties of friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
