The Young Parliamentarians Forum (YPF) received a significant boost on Friday with the donation of a state-of-the-art e-library and co-working space by Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu.

The Forum, chaired by Lamiju Akala and recognised by the United Nations, comprises lawmakers under the age of 40.

The group focuses on fostering dialogue and engagement with young Nigerians interested in legislative affairs and the workings of the National Assembly.

This gesture by Tinubu fulfills his promise to the Forum to back their aspirations and innovative ideas as emerging legislators.

Speaking at the commissioning of the facility located on Mississippi Street in Abuja, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, described the initiative as transformative.

He stated, “This innovative space aims to provide an enabling environment where young people can strategise, discuss national progress, and contribute to youth-oriented legislation.”

Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila also praised the project, emphasizing its importance for youth participation in governance. “I wish this happened during my time as it is a good environment for young legislators to meet and deliberate on issues bothering nation building,” he said.

Gbajabiamila added, “I commend Mr. Seyi Tinubu for initiating this laudable project as it will further enhance the legislative process for young parliamentarians. The building houses an e-library, a physical library, and co-working space for all young parliamentarians.”

The facility, named The Congrès, was developed by Mr. Tope Adekoya and Mrs. Adesuwa Belo-Osagie, co-leaders of 7-Fifteen Capital Ltd and The 7-Fifteen Foundation. They joined other dignitaries at the event to celebrate the milestone achievement for young Nigerian lawmakers.
