Nigeria’s home-based Super Eagles have booked their ticket for the 2025 African Nations Championship with a dominant 3-1 win over Ghana’s Black Galaxies at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Saturday.

After a goalless stalemate in the first leg in Accra, the Eagles B came alive in the return match, netting three first-half goals.

Remo Stars’ Sodiq Ismail and Nduka Junior put Nigeria ahead within the first 22 minutes, before Rangers’ Kazeem Ogunleye added a third in the 25th minute.

Despite Stephen Amankuna pulling one back for Ghana in the 73rd minute, it was a mere consolation as Nigeria stood firm to secure their place in their first CHAN tournament since 2018.

This victory holds added significance, as it came against Ghana, who had previously ousted Nigeria from CHAN qualification in both 2008 and 2022.

The Super Eagles B will now compete in the tournament co-hosted by Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania from February 1-25, 2025, with hopes of surpassing their previous best finish as runners-up in 2018.
