Minister of Works, David Umahi, on Thursday visited the mother of embattled former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu.

PlatinumPost reports that the visit to Ekweremadu’s mother at residence in Enugu, was part of the former Ebonyi governor’s activities to mark this year’s Boxing Day.

It was gathered that Umahi, who encouraged the octogenarian woman not to be downcast over the travails of her son, also used the opportunity to present a season greeting’s card featuring a message from President Bola Tinubu, and his vice, Kashim Shettima.

PlatinumPost reports that Ekweremadu was sentenced to nine years and eight months in prison by a United Kingdom court in May 2023.

The court also sentenced Mr Ekweremadu’s wife, Beatrice, to four years and six months in prison while a doctor who allegedly colluded with them, Obinna Obeta, was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

The Nigerian politician allegedly procured a 21-year-old Nigerian and flew him to the UK with the intention to harvest his kidney for their sick daughter.
