Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi, has refuted claims of merger discussions with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), or any other political group.
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday, Obi clarified that no agreements have been reached with any political party. He urged Nigerians to unite in preparation for the 2027 elections to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The former Governor of Anambra State also expressed grave concern over Nigeria’s security challenges, describing the situation as “tragic” and calling for collective action to address the crisis.
In the 2023 presidential election, APC candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu emerged victorious, securing the highest number of votes—8,794,726—and winning in 12 states. Tinubu’s margin of nearly two million votes placed him ahead of his closest rival, Atiku Abubakar of the PDP.
