The Kano State High Court, presided over by Justice Nasir Saminu, has sentenced Abdurrahman Yakubu to death by hanging for armed robbery.
Yakubu, a resident of Bele Local Government Area in Nasarawa State, was convicted on multiple counts of armed robbery involving the use of dangerous weapons.
Among his victims was Barrister Hajara Lawal Ahmad, from whom he stole a car and an undisclosed amount of money.
During the trial, the prosecution, led by government lawyer Barrister Umar Yakubu, presented evidence that proved the defendant’s guilt beyond reasonable doubt. The court dismissed the defence put forward by Abdurrahman.
Justice Saminu also noted that the firearms recovered from the convict were illegal and had been used for criminal activities. As a result, the court upheld the death sentence by hanging as stipulated by the law.
