A multi-vehicle crash along the Interchange section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Saturday saw 11 people sustaining with various injuries.

The accident occurred around 7:30 am, as confirmed by Babatunde Akinbiyi, spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency.

According to Akinbiyi, the incident began when a Mazda bus collided with a truck attempting to navigate into a private company’s premises.

A second Toyota Hiace bus, unable to avoid the collision, also crashed into the vehicles after losing control.

“A serious crash involving a truck and an 18-seater passenger bus occurred at the Cway junction, just a few meters beyond the Heyden filling station,” Akinbiyi reported.

“An eyewitness stated that the driver of the Mack truck was trying to maneuver into the Cway company, and due to the impatience and excessive speed of the Mazda bus, the crash occurred, also involving a Toyota Hiace bus that lost control after seeing the accident ahead.”

The crash involved 21 people, with 11—eight men and three women—sustaining injuries. The vehicles involved were identified as a Mazda bus (plate number SMK 554 YH), a Mack truck (plate number FNN 934 XA), and a Toyota Hiace bus (plate number KJA 995 XA).

Akinbiyi added, “The 11 injured victims were taken to Idera Hospital in Shagamu by the Federal Road Safety Corps.”

Emergency response teams, including personnel from TRACE, the Federal Road Safety Corps, and the Police, attended to the scene.
