Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has called on President Bola Tinubu to reassess his administration’s policies to better address the challenges faced by ordinary Nigerians.
Speaking during a courtesy visit by a delegation of Islamic clerics led by Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir, Governor Mohammed expressed concerns that the current policies at the national level are not yielding the desired results for the populace.
He urged the president to remain attuned to the struggles of Nigerians, emphasizing the need for policies that align with the well-being of citizens. “President Tinubu should listen to the plight of Nigerians, whom he has sworn to serve,” the governor stated.
Governor Mohammed further appealed to the president to learn from past mistakes and prioritize initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for the people.
“Take for instance the Tax reform policy. Of course, no government can survive without revenue; if for instance the sources of its revenue can be blocked, no one can run it,” Mohammed said.
Speaking further, the governor added that it is a well fact that they (Northern governors) are not in good terms with the president.
He said, “I am sure you have heard that we are quarrelling with the president. Yes, it is true we are quarrelling because our people are suffering and the president has refused to listen to us.”
The governor also mentioned to the scholars that he had earlier thought of meeting with Sheikh Jingir to discuss the matter.
“You are among the few personalities that can approach the president on this issue. You are one of the people that the president listens to,” Governor Mohammed said.
