President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is hosting Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, as part of the latter’s two-day working visit to Nigeria.

Wang Yi, a senior member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China, was welcomed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport by Dunoma Umar Ahmed, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The meeting, sources revealed, focuses on reviewing and advancing the implementation of the Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed during the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit in China.

Key topics under discussion include economic collaboration, political partnerships, and developments in the oil and gas sectors. Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, is also in attendance.

Following the closed-door meeting, both foreign ministers are expected to brief the press on the outcomes of their deliberations.
