The abductors of retired Brigadier-General Maharazu Tsiga, a former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), are now demanding a ransom of N250 million for his release.

The incident occurred on Wednesday night when a group of heavily armed attackers stormed General Tsiga’s residence in Katsina State. Witnesses report that the assailants surrounded the property and began forcefully breaking down doors, which prompted the retired general to come outside and confront them.

Confirming the abduction, Abdullahi Balarabe Dabai, a federal lawmaker representing Bakori/Danja Federal Constituency, stated that the gunmen overpowered those present before whisking General Tsiga away.

In response to the incident, security forces have launched an operation to locate the kidnappers and ensure the safe return of the retired military officer. Despite these efforts, no official update has been provided by security agencies regarding their progress.

A source close to the family, speaking anonymously to Daily Trust on Friday, revealed that the kidnappers had made contact with the family, demanding N250 million as ransom for General Tsiga’s release.
