The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) caucus in the House of Representatives has lost one of its members, Yusuf Galambi, to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Galambi’s defection was confirmed in a letter addressed to the House leadership, which was read on the floor during Thursday’s plenary session by Speaker Tajudeen Abbas.
The lawmaker represents the Gwaram Federal Constituency of Jigawa State. His defection further strengthens the APC’s presence in the lower chamber of the National Assembly.
Justifying his defection, Galambi said his decision to join the APC followed a directive from his constituency.
He also attributed the development to NNPP’s leadership crisis.
“This is not a personal decision but a directive from the constituency I represent,” he said.
