A Lugbe Grade 1 Area Court in Abuja has officially dissolved the 10-year marriage between Mohammed Ibrahim, a businessman, and his wife, Halimat Sadiya, citing ongoing issues of disrespect.

Presiding Judge Aliyu Kagarko granted the divorce in line with Islamic law, following Ibrahim’s petition, which detailed allegations of persistent misbehaviour and lack of respect from his wife.

Ibrahim told the court that he married Sadiya in 2015 under Islamic law, and they have four children together. Despite multiple efforts by family and friends to mediate, he claimed Sadiya’s attitude did not improve.

“We fight each other every day; I can no longer bear with her,” Ibrahim stated in court, emphasizing that he had reached his limit.

“I am no longer interested in the marriage because I have lost interest in it,” he added, urging the court to dissolve the union.

The respondent, Sadiya, did not contest the divorce application, and the court proceeded to grant the dissolution of the marriage.
