The Security and Economic Development Focus Group has called on Nigerians to show greater appreciation for the sacrifices made by the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) in safeguarding the country.
During a solidarity rally in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Wednesday, the group engaged residents in Kurudu, Orozo, and Nyanya, urging them to support the military’s efforts in maintaining security.
Speaking at the event, the group’s convener, Salihu Adamu, emphasized the importance of backing the AFN, which has been working alongside other security agencies to keep Abuja safe.
“We must support our troops under the leadership of the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Chris Musa,” Adamu stated.
“You will agree with me that the FCT is a safe place to dwell and pursue your various means of livelihood.
“Our troops are making sacrifices that some of us cannot make. Some are in the bushes for months without seeing their families. But you are here.
“We must not join people who have decided to make themselves enemies of the country. They want us to be in fear all the time.
“Fortunately, we are happy, the Armed Forces of Nigeria under the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Chris Musa will not give them any breathing space,” the group added.
The rally aimed to reinforce public confidence in the military’s role in national security and encourage continued community support.
