A Federal High Court in Abuja has issued an interim order restraining the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions from proceeding with any disciplinary action against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central.
The order was granted on Tuesday by Justice Obiora Egwuatu, following an ex parte application filed by Akpoti-Uduaghan’s legal team.
This means that, for now, the Senate committee cannot take any action against the senator until further rulings on the matter.
The court presided by Justice Obiora Egwuatu gave the order on Tuesday following an ex parte application filed by counsels to Akpoti-Uduaghan, the senator representing Kogi Central.
The ruling comes as the committee was set to convene and potentially impose an indefinite suspension on the senator.
This interim order halts all proceedings on the matter pending further judicial review.
